Frequently asked questions

Topical CBD products, such as CBD balms, are a popular option among consumers. This is especially true of those who would rather not ingest CBD. Others prefer it because it can be used for targeted relief for areas of concern. They also typically contain skin friendly ingredients. For example, our CBD balm contains eucalyptus and peppermint for additional benefits.

CBD balms work by interacting with the body’s endocannabinoid system just like any other CBD product. The endocannabinoid system helps maintain homeostasis and plays a large role in regulating numerous bodily functions such as digestion, sleep, memory, mood, inflammation, and temperature. Endocannabinoids bind to receptors to initiate a response to any abnormalities that disrupt the body’s homeostasis. Enzymes then break down endocannabinoids once they have served their purpose.

While other types of CBD products enter the bloodstream after being ingested or applied to the body, CBD balms work in a different way. They are rubbed into an area of concern for targeted relief at the source. The rubbing motion helps stimulate bloodflow to the area which encourages healing. However, the CBD content never actually enters the bloodstream. Instead, the CBD is able to interact with endocannabinoid receptors within the skins pores. This is how these products deliver the benefits of CBD, resulting in your desired effects.

Some people think that because it never enters the bloodstream, a CBD balm won’t work. This is compeltely false. While ingestible products may work better for some users, others find that balms and salves are much better suited and more effective for their needs. Using CBD is a very personal experience and each individual must find out what works best for them. Your may respond more to CBD in the skin than the bloodstream, or vice versa, or you may feel equal benefits from both. The only way to know for sure is to try out different options and stick with the ones that provide you with the results you’re looking for.

When you first start using CBD balms, you may wonder where to apply them on the body. This varies greatly between each individual, as balms are typically used for targeted relief rather than general wellness support. For example, if you suffer an injury to your knee, that would be a great place to apply your CBD balm.

CBD balms do not enter the bloodstream which is why their effects are localised to where they’re applied. They can only interact with endocannabinoid receptors within the skin’s pores at the site of application. Therefore, if you have an injury that radiates pain up and down your arm, it’s best to apply the balm to all areas that have been affected by the injury.

Another less common use for CBD balms is for skin care. As many CBD balms contain skin friendly ingredients, many people enjoy their effects when applied to problem areas of the skin. For example, if there are dry patches on your legs, you may want to apply a moisturising balm with ingredients that are kind to your skin. At Simply CBD, our balm is infused with eucalyptus and peppermint, both of which are known to be beneficial for the skin.

The bottom line with this type of product is that its effects are localised. This means the application of a CBD balm or salve is very important. If it fails to cover the affected area, the balm may not be able to produce your desired effects, or they may not be as far reaching as you had hoped. Ensuring that you cover the area of concern and rub in each dose of balm well can help promote better results.

CBD muscle balm is one of many different types of CBD products. This means that it contains CBD, which is short for cannabidiol. CBD is one of over 100 cannabinoids from the hemp plant, and is becoming an increasingly popular wellness supplement. CBD balm in particular is a topical product infused with CBD that can be applied to the skin. They’re typically easy to apply, as many of them come in a roll-on type container. This allows for mess-free application.

CBD balms are used for targeted relief in affected areas of the skin and muscles. This is because, unlike other types of CBD products, CBD balms do not enter the bloodstream and instead remain within the pores of the skin. Applying CBD balms allows the CBD content to interact with the endocannabinoid system within the pores without passing through into the bloodstream. This is why their effects are localised.

In addition to the effects of the CBD content interacting with the endocannabinoid system, CBD balms offer other benefits. For example, rubbing a sore muscle can help stimulate bloodflow to the area of concern. This promotes healing and may offer some relief from pain and inflammation.

While CBD balms are more commonly used for muscle relief, some users enjoy applying them to areas of the skin that require attention. This is because CBD balms, like ours for example, are designed to be gentle to the skin and are often formulated with ingredients that promote healing and hydration. For example, our CBD balm contains peppermint and eucalpytus.

As with any type of CBD product, using CBD balms is a process that is unique to each individual user. You may find them most beneficial for muscle soreness, while others may find them useful for problem areas of the skin. The important part to remember is to stick with what works best for you.

Topical CBD products, such as CBD balms, are becoming increasingly popular. This is especially true of those who prefer not to ingest CBD. Others prefer it because it can be used for targeted relief for areas of concern. For example, many athletes prefer CBD balms and salves because they offer relief without entering the bloodstream. This can help with their exercise recovery regimens. CBD balms also typically contain skin friendly ingredients, making them a popular alternative skin care product. For example, our CBD balm contains eucalyptus and peppermint for additional benefits.

CBD balms interact with the endocannabinoid system in the body. This is how all CBD products produce their results. The endocannabinoid system helps the body maintain homeostasis and plays a crucial part in regulating functions such as digestion, sleep, temperature, and inflammation. If homeostasis is disrupted in any way, such as an injury that causes pain and inflammation, endocannabinoids bind to receptors in the central and/or peripheral nervous systems to initiate a response. Enzymes then break down endocannabinoids once their purpose has been served.

CBD balms work in a different way than other CBD products as the CBD content never actually enters the bloodstream. They are rubbed into an area of concern for targeted relief at the source, which helps stimulate bloodflow to the area and encourages healing. However instead of the CBD passing through the skin into the bloodstream, it remains within the skin’s pores. There are endocannabinoid receptors within these pores, which is why CBD balms can interact with the system without having to enter the bloodstream. This process is how CBD balms are able to deliver your desired benefits.

When you decide to start using CBD muscle balm, you may wonder how often you should apply it. As with any type of CBD product, this is a personal process as each person responds differently to CBD. Some may find that one dose per day is enough, while others require frequent top ups throughout the day.

As this is a personal process, the answer depends upon the reason you’re using the CBD balm. If it’s for relief from an injury, you can reapply it whenever you begin to feel the effects wearing off. If it’s for skin issues, you may base this on how long it takes for dryness or other issues to return after your initial balm application. For some users this may take many hours, while for others it may only take a few. Rubbing the balm in thoroughly is important as this not only pushes the CBD into the skin, it also helps stimulate bloodflow to the area for additional healing benefits.

Something to consider when it comes to CBD balms that is different from most other CBD products is the way it absorbs. While the majority of CBD products enter the bloodstream, the available CBD from balms remains within the pores. There are endocannabinoid receptors in the pores, which is why its still able to produce your desired results.

The safety regulations in the UK for ingestible products is to consume no more than 70mg of CBD per day. However, as this is not an ingestible form of CBD, the dose is very hard to determine, and it never enters the bloodstream, the rules don’t apply to balms in the same way. This also means that CBD balms can be used safely in conjunction with other types of CBD products, such as patches, gummies, and oils.

At Simply CBD, we want you to get the most out of our products. That’s why, in addition to CBD, we’ve included carefully selected natural ingredients in our balms range to enhance their benefits. For example, our CBD Muscle Balm is formulated with eucalyptus, peppermint, vitamin E, jojoba oil, coconut oil, and shea butter. These ingredients all present their own unique set of benefits. Shea butter and coconut oil are both nourishing and moisturising, making them beneficial for your skin. Eucalyptus can help with skin inflammation and some research suggests it may also help with joint and muscle pain. Peppermint has long been used as a remedy for muscle spasms and pain. Jojoba oil has powerful antibacterial properties and is very hydrating for the skin.

Our CBD Muscle Salve also contains many of the same nourishing ingredients as our CBD balm. However, instead of eucalyptus, we included rosemary. This aromatic plant is one of the most widely used herbal remedies. It is thought to help with pain and the inflammation of various tissues. Our Lavender and Cocoa Butter Balm is also packed with calming and hydrating ingredients. If you’re looking for a CBD face cream, our CBD balm and CBD salve products are packed with skin friendly ingredients that are safe to use on your face.

When using CBD products, you may have noticed that we advise leaving a gap between your CBD dose and any medications or supplements you’re taking. However, this isn’t necessary for all types of CBD products. The medication gap rule largely applies to orally ingestible CBD products, such as oils, tablets, and gummies.

The use of topical balms, salves, and creams does not require you to follow the standard CBD medication rules. This is because of how these products interact with the body. CBD balm, salve, and cream products are applied to the skin, and remain within the skin’s pores. This means they never enter the bloodstream or the digestive tract. Therefore, they won’t interact with any medications or supplements you’re taking orally.

In contrast, products like gummies and capsules which are taken orally do enter the digestive system. They are partially metabolised by the liver before entering your bloodstream. Medications and supplements follow the same process. Therefore, if you take both at the same time, they are likely to interact. While the research on this topic is still limited, evidence suggests that oral CBD may impact the effectiveness of some medications and supplements.

If you use a topical medication, you may need to consider when you use your topical CBD products. For example, you may use a medicated cream for a chronic skin condition. If this is the case, it’s best to speak to your doctor if you wish to use topical CBD in the same area. They will have a comprehensive understanding of your condition and medications, and can therefore provide you with suitable advice.

UK safety guidelines for CBD use state that users should take no more than 70mg of CBD per day. However, this largely pertains to oral CBD and any other products that enter your bloodstream. CBD salves, creams, and balms do not ever enter the bloodstream. Instead, these products remain in the skin and interact with endocannabinoid receptors found in the pores. Due to this, the use of a CBD balm or a CBD salve will not contribute to your daily dose of CBD. This means you can use these products as often as required without worrying about your dosage.

You can also safely use them in conjunction with other CBD products. For example, you may be someone who needs a high dose of CBD to feel its benefits. If this is the case, you can add CBD salves and balms to your routine without worrying about taking too much in a day. For example, you may take two 30mg SoftGels in a day and use low strength vape liquids to top up your dose. This would bring you to around 70mg of CBD. In this case, we wouldn’t advise adding any further products to your routine that will enter your bloodstream. However, you could safely add balms and salves to your routine with no impact on your dosage.

If you’re brand new to using CBD products, we recommend starting with a one-time purchase of the product(s) you’d like to try. Once you’ve worked out what you want to continue using on a regular basis, it makes sense to set up a subscription. We offer multiple options so you can have your favourite products arrive at the perfect time. You can choose to receive them every one, two, or three months, depending on how quickly you’re likely to run out. After you’ve set up your subscription, you never need to lift a finger to receive your CBD products.

In addition to the convenience of subscriptions, they also save you money on each purchase. If you choose to subscribe to a single product, such as our CBD Muscle Balm, you’ll save 10% on each order after your initial purchase. If you choose to subscribe to one of our bundles, such as our Revive Bundle, you’ll save 15% on all orders after your initial purchase. When you’re using products regularly, it makes sense to save time and money with a subscription. You can even choose the date you want to receive them to suit your routine. For example, some users like to schedule their subscriptions for shortly after their payday.

When you purchase a CBD product, it’s useful to understand how long you can expect them to last. Our CBD balm, salve, and cream products all last for around three years after purchase. However, it’s important that you check the expiration date on the packaging when your products arrive. This way, you’ll know exactly how long you can expect your product of choice to last. As these products last for a long period of time, it’s likely that you’ll run out far before they reach their expiration dates. This is especially true if you use these products regularly, which is what we recommend for the best results.

In terms of storage, we recommend storing your CBD balms and salves in a cool, dry place. One of the most important factors is ensuring that these products are kept away from extreme temperatures. For example, leaving them in direct sunlight may impact their quality and longevity. We also advise that you refrain from freezing these products. Following the proper storage conditions can help you ensure that your products reach their expiration dates without diminishing in quality. This helps you get your money’s worth out of our CBD products.

CBD isolate is known as the purest form of CBD. Instead of including any of the other plant compounds or cannabinoids, CBD isolate products only contain CBD from the hemp plant. This is achieved by adding an extra step to the extraction process. After the initial stage, the next step involves decarboxylation. This process separates the CBD content from any other compounds in the extract. This CBD is then lab tested to ensure that it’s at least 99% pure, before being added to CBD isolate products.

While THC is by no means a bad compound to ingest, especially in the trace amounts found in full spectrum products, some people prefer to avoid it. If you want to stay away from any THC content, you may want to try CBD isolate or broad spectrum CBD products. CBD isolate products are great for those who are just starting out with CBD as they are typically simpler to dose. This may help you find your most suitable dose more easily.

It’s worth mentioning that CBD isolate contains no terpenes or flavonoids in addition to no other cannabinoids. This means that it’s impossible to experience the entourage effect when using only CBD isolate products. CBD isolate is still effective as CBD is the main ingredient across all CBD products. However, the entourage effect is thought to give broad and full spectrum products the ability to provide more potent effects. There are benefits of each product type, so the key is to find what works best for you.

CBD products are entirely legal to sell, buy, and consume in the UK. When looking to buy CBD online for the first time, people can be apprehensive about the product due to its relationship with cannabis. Thankfully, you won’t get in any legal hot water as a result of buying and using CBD. This is because there is a major difference between hemp and marijuana, despite them both coming from the cannabis plant family. Hemp is naturally high in CBD content and low in THC, while marijuana is naturally high in THC content and low in CBD. While hemp has been legalised for industrial use, marijuana remains strictly illegal.

The production and sale of CBD products like balms and salves in the UK is tightly regulated. Firstly, all CBD must come exclusively from industrial hemp. This means legal CBD products have no relationship with marijuana whatsoever. The entities growing the hemp must also have a licence from the Home Office to do so. Secondly, all CBD must contain a maximum of 0.2% THC. This trace amount is enough to contribute to the entourage effect, but is not nearly enough to ever cause a ‘high’ or any other intoxicating effects. In the case of our balms and salves, they are made with CBD isolate, meaning there is no THC present whatsoever.

One of the most common misconceptions about CBD products is that they will cause a high. This stems from their relationship with the cannabis plant family. However, this is completely untrue. The reason CBD doesn’t cause a high comes down to its origin. All legal CBD in the UK comes from licensed industrial hemp, which is one of the most well-known plants from the cannabis plant family. The other well-known plant from this family is marijuana, which remains illegal in the UK.

Hemp plants have a naturally high concentration of CBD and little to no THC content. Conversely, marijuana is very high in THC content and is naturally low in CBD. As THC is the compound that causes a ‘high’ sensation, it’s commonly used as a recreational drug. Hemp, on the other hand, contains very little of this cannabinoid and therefore does not cause intoxication or any other similar side effects.

CBD in the UK can contain no more than 0.2% THC content, which is nowhere near enough to cause a ‘high’ sensation. In the case of our CBD balm and CBD salve products, there is no THC present whatsoever. The reason THC isn’t completely excluded from all CBD products is due to the entourage effect. However, legal CBD products that adhere to UK regulations will never contain enough THC to cause a high.

The rules surrounding CBD and travelling can differ depending on multiple factors. This means there are some considerations to take before travelling with your CBD salve or balm.

Domestic travel

If your travel plans are solely within the UK, you’re unlikely to face any issues with taking your CBD balm or salve with you. That being said, if your plans involve flying, we always advise that you contact your airline. This allows you to confirm whether they have any regulations around CBD that you need to know about. When you travel domestically, the regulations at your destination will not differ from the regulations where you live. This is because if your CBD products adhere to the government’s regulations, they’re legal throughout the entire UK.

International travel

The legality of travelling with CBD balms and salves differs between destinations. As with domestic flights, it’s always best to reach out to your airline to check that your products fit within their regulations. If the customs department at your destination (including any layover destinations) and the airline team have no issues with CBD products, you should be fine to travel with them. If you’re travelling to a country with strict restrictions and regulations surrounding CBD, such as Dubai, you won’t be able to bring your balm or salve with you. This is also the case if your airline has any rules against you flying with CBD products.

Other travel considerations

It’s important to keep in mind that slight variations in CBD laws can make a massive difference. For example, in the UK, full-spectrum CBD products can contain no more than 0.2% THC content. However, in the USA, full-spectrum CBD products can contain no more than 0.3% THC content.

The difference between the two laws may seem minuscule. However, if you purchased full spectrum CBD products with 0.3% THC content in the US, you wouldn’t be able to bring them to the UK. This is because they don’t follow the UK government’s regulations. Our balms and salves are made with CBD isolate, which means they contain no THC whatsoever. This can help you ensure that you’re not at odds with any THC laws.
